Benefits-Healthy Habits of book reading

Benefits-Healthy Habits of Books Reading

When I think about the idea of book reading as a habit, I wonder what kind of book I'm referring to?  Because there are different writers and authors available out there and we all have different taste and choices and no one can argue about that and also, I'm not convinced about what should I write? For one, I can only say about myself and second, I can only share my stories, like my evolution preference for books in all these years which might not be as interesting and relevant to you all.

The reason why we cannot get stuck and confine with one particular writer choice is that we as human have a tendency to choose what's relatable to us, sometimes it's the characters or story or the process of shifting that we all dealt with our daily basis.

Benefits-Healthy Habits of book reading

It is said that writers' souls are found in their writings and publications. And no wonder I've always felt that unknown sentiment and touch with almost every book I've read of every writer. And that's why I guess I've been able to read so many books without hesitating once. And I'm not lying when I say it helped me immensely with my focus.

The concept of having a book reading as a habit is not new, at least not to me. It might be a little time taking but when once developed it is regarded as one on the most healthy way of approach to life.  As growing up I understood that all kinds of genres are important. Because I was really never satisfied with one particular book. Let me share a small story about how I drowned myself with books. When I was a kid in the fourth grader, I had a friend who in my early days gifted me a novel by Charles Dickens. I've no idea who he was, as a matter of fact, no one in my class did. It was 'The Great Expectations'. Now imagine a fourth grader boy reading the book about colonial poverty, injustice, harsh treatment and also figuring out to understand Charles Dickens' novels. Of course, that wasn't my early thought if I re-encounter. I was only reading as a gift obviously, and now I hardly remember anything except the storyline, but I can't tell you the amount of joy I had while reading that book.

What I am trying to convey is, that moment of gift changed my life forever. And there was no stopping back from then. I went on reading Emly Bronte's Wuthering Heights, The Famous Five and Secret Seven by Enid Blyton, The Hardy's Boys created by American writer Edward Stratemeyer under the collective pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon by various writers and on and on. I was then introduced to Chetan Bhagat, Amish Tripathi, Nicholas Sparks, Paulo Coelho etc. These were some of my early reads.

And now when I looked back I feel so great that these books have helped my curiosity to explore the beautiful world of arts and literature.
And how could I forget 'Grace', the only novel I cried my heart out after reading by Richard Paul Evans. Not only but my first to be precise. It felt so pure and genuine. There was something about this book that I'll never forget. Or maybe perhaps it was first ever a teen romance that I've ever encounter with. The sole reason is still uncertain. And I'll let it be that way because I don't want it to get ruined with a reason. Sometimes it is best left unsaid.

The other reason why I love reading is its beautiful way of words giving wings to the characters, and the world of our infinite imaginations, nothing can beat that. The books shaped my perspective about who I really am and the way and also my opinion of my society. It made me the person I'm today because now I see the world from a different angle with a new perspective.

you know how important reading is to me. So that's what I'm going to write today. I'm going to be talking about many benefits of reading books. Now of course there are some of the obvious ones like reading can actually help you become a better writer as you continue to pick through what makes certain books work well or not work so well.

Reading can also help you acquire more knowledge particularly if you're reading non fiction but fiction does have its merits as well in that area and reading has even been shown to improve memory which makes sense because you're having to remember characters, their backgrounds, Ambitions, histories, and nuances, As well as various arcs and subplots throughout the entire story. But I've got a couple of other ones that I want to talk about today so I'm going to consider those to be honorable mentions to this list. And without further delay let's get it started.

                   Benefits of Books Reading

Reading books can make you more empathetic.

One benefit of reading is that reading can make you more empathetic and can increase your emotional intelligence. This is understandable because fiction in particular puts so much focus on the characters' emotional states and does a great job of helping the readers understand what the other characters are thinking and feeling at any given time. Which as you can imagine could be particularly helpful since it trains your ability to read and by extension understand the people around you which just seems to become more and more important by the day am I right?

Reading can help fight off Alzheimer's disease

Second benefit of reading is that reading can help fight off Alzheimer's disease. This is because reading puts your brain to work and Studies have shown that those who engage their brains regularly through things like meditation or reading could be up to 2.5 times less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease than those who spend their downtime on other, less stimulating activities.

Better Night's Sleep

Third benefit of reading is that reading before bed can not only help you get to sleep but also get a better night's sleep. Because creating a bedtime ritual signals to your body that it's time to start winding down and Studies have shown that reading can help you relax more than just zoning out in front of a screen watching Netflix. In fact sitting in front of a screen or an e-reader or a tablet has actually been shown to keep you awake longer and might even hurt the quality of your sleep.

Reading can help you to help yourself

A finally a fourth benefit of reading is that it can help you to help yourself. After all that's the reason that self-help books exist and I know that in today's culture, at least American culture, self-help books are kind of looked down on, and there's certainly a legitimate reason for that, not all of the books are good. In fact the majority of them are mostly padding, offering no real quote-unquote new information for the reader. I'll admit I have a little bit of a problem with that particular argument even though there is truth to it because what's common sense to one person may not be to another person it all depends on what experiences we've had in our lives and how we view the world but anyway it is a big reason.

When I find a book that I think has good information but maybe a bit too much padding I summarize it, giving the ideas that I feel are good and cutting out the rest. However reading the right book at the right time can really work wonders for us. An example for me would be the sociopath next door book. It really helped me understand a lot of what I went through in an earlier relationship in my life and work through the scars that we're still there. It was a very therapeutic experience at least for me it may have been completely different for someone else to read the book. And those were four benefits of reading books.
