•John Bunyan was born in the little village of Elstow to Thomas and Margaret Bunyan ,his father was a brazier and tinker(tinsmith and mender of household utensils made of tins) and his grandfather was a small trader.

•Bunyan being a son of a tinker learned his father's trade of tinker and was given rudimentary schooling.He was soon busy in his father's shop ,where ,amid the glowing pots and the fire and smoke of his little forge,he saw vivid pictures of hell and the devil's which haunted him all his life .

•When  Bunyan was sixteen years old his father married the second time and Bunyan ran away and became a soldier in the paramilitary army.Bunyan's army service provided him with a knowledge of military language which he then used in his book "The Holy War".At the age of nineteenth he left the service of army ,he was nearly 3years in the army.

•Like his date of birth the Name of his wife and exact date of his marriage are not known.After his marriage the real reformation in his life began.The only dowry which his wife brought to her new home was two old threadbare books,The plain Man's Pathway To heaven,and The practice of piety. The couples first daughter Mary was born in 1650.
